I was doing a reading for a client and they are currently in their Neptune period. I wanted to share a bit about Neptune and his cards.
Just as a reminder, starting with your birth date each year, you enter Mercury for 52 days, then Venus for 52 days, Mars 52 days after that, then Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune until your next birthday where you re-enter Mercury again and go through the same cycle. If you want to read more about this check out my previous article.
Neptune is dreamy. It’s the last 52 day period before our next Birthday. We do not think straight or see right when under Neptune’s influence, it’s almost like wearing beer goggles. Neptune rules our hopes and fears. It will tell us what we are dreaming of or secretly wanting, almost at a subconscious level. It can also represent foreign travel or distant work. It also rules drugs and alcohol, especially with escaping away into those activities.
Just as Uranus is a Super Mercury, Neptune is really a Super Venus. It’s the highest octave of Venus and brings beauty higher and can bring us to higher spiritual levels. Despite this, Neptune is known as the planet of mist and it has a way of altering our reality and complicating our perceptions. It confuses issues and makes it hard to decipher facts. It also can make us misunderstand, or be misunderstood easily.
He entered Neptune on 4/20 and is playing the 4 of Hearts and 8 of Diamonds.
The four of Hearts in Neptune could see him dreaming about the ideal marriage or a home of love. Neptune can make this the tone for the year as well. With some context, he is single and this has occupied his mind for the better part of the year. The 8 of Diamonds represents being financially very powerful, and being able to get money. This money could be made or borrowed, but the one thing to note is that you have this financial power at this time. However, when in Neptune, we like to go to the spiritual side of the cards. The focus here will be on values, as Diamonds represent values and the things that matter most. In his case, this 8 will represent concentrating on making choices about what is most important in his life. The choice here is to focus on things that feel graceful, and not to force anything with the 8. This kind of focus will attract money too.
Diving Deeper into the Four of Hearts
The four of hearts speaks of your home and family, it can also be considered a good influence for friendship and romance. In Neptune’s case, it can be that we are dreaming of these things. For those that are in a relationship, the Four of Hearts would help our marriage look and feel great, taking on a very romantic tone. The challenge in Neptune is that oftentimes we see others with rose colored glasses and things may seem to good to be true, they usually are.
The four of Hearts points to security/stability in the home or relationships. All fours have this need for security, with the hearts, it translates to our love life or family. This is generally a good influence however we can box ourselves in with the four and make choices that are rooted in stability. An example of this is when clients who have a four of hearts hide from new romantic opportunities. They literally box themselves in as to keep their home life as they know it.
Diving Deeper into the 8 of Diamonds
A key theme of any 8 is power. How does an 8 of Hearts abuse power? They use their charm to manipulate others. The 8 of Clubs will mentally manipulate you through argument and the 8 of Diamonds has physical power and financial power which can be abused. Each of the 8s can be addicted to things in life that become very difficult to stop. Many 8 of Diamonds actually become addicted to drugs and alcohol. Pair this with the fact that this 8 of Diamonds is in Neptune which is ruled by drugs and alcohol, it can become very easy to escape into those things. The 8 of Diamonds also could just be addicted to adrenaline, and making a huge purchase would help them get their fill for a bit. Our goal with this card was to remind him to focus on what matters most (Diamonds) and block out all the external things that may come with this card in this period, especially escaping into distractions like alcohol.
