Cardology and NBA Injuries (What ifs)
I previously wrote articles about athletes and injuries. I wanted to analyze a few more NBA players that got injured before or in their prime. These will be real quick notes about each player, really just so I can see if there are any patterns that pop out for future predictions. I think what you will see is that the 7 of Spades, 6 of Spades and 9 of Spades play a major role when looking for potential injuries.
The previous articles are below.
Cardology and Sports Injuries Part 2
I covered Greg Oden and Derek Rose previously, but some of the other biggest NBA what ifs in my mind are:
Yao Ming: 9/12/1980, Q♣/10♠
Jay Williams: 9/10/1981, A♦/Q♦
Grant Hill: 10/5/1972, 4♦/8♥
Tracy McGrady: 5/24/1979, 8♣/6♦
Anfernee Hardaway: 7/18/1971, 10♣/Q ♥
Brandon Roy: 7/23/1984, 5♣
Bill Walton: 11/5/1952, 2♦/6♦/A♥
Yao Ming: 9/12/1980, Q♣/10♠
Yao’s first major injury was February 26, 2008. He was in a Neptune Year with a 7 of Spades. 7 of Spades is the accident card of the deck, it also represents negative health karma. The 7 teaches us to be more spiritual and detach from outcomes. Oftentimes this card shows up when we need to slow down.
Yao Retired in 2011 in his Jupiter Year with a 9 of Clubs and 5 of Clubs Yearly Card. The 9 brings a culmination of something, usually outdated ideas or lifestyles and the 5 of Clubs brings a change in profession.
Jay Williams: 9/10/1981, A♦/Q♦
Jay displaced the 8 of Diamonds for the year when he had his career ending injury in June, 2003. Displacement means the karma we step into for the year. Basically we pay rent to this card for the year. The 8 of Diamonds is the Sun card of the deck and is called the pinnacle year. This is the year where we reach our pinnacle. This can be expressed as rising up to the ultimate position, or stepping down from the top spot in life.
Jay had a 4 of Hearts in Pluto at the time of his accident which generally results in tough health karma since the 4 of Hearts has the 6 of Spades as its lifetime Saturn Card. The 6 of Spades is health karma and you get what you give.
Jay also had the 5 of Hearts Result Card which means changes in relationships/life and it is tied to his Jack of Clubs Pluto. The Jack of Clubs have honesty issues and this may have been one way to expose them. He was violating his contract by riding his motorcycle which resulted in his accident.
Grant Hill: 10/5/1972, 4♦/8♥
Grant injured his ankle on April 15th, 2000. He continued playing through it and ultimately in March of 2003 he underwent surgery where he had huge complications that were life threatening.
In the year 2000, he started a new 7 year cycle, displacing the 5 of Diamonds. This would signal restlessness and dissatisfaction with a work area or at least money making area of his life. This 5 energy would see him having to change jobs or travel to make money. It also could have just changed and transformed his current outlook on his career and could have taught him to play differently to stay in the NBA.
Grant had a 7 of Spades Long Range card for the year 2003. This would tell you that he would have a year long challenge in the area of his health. It is something he would just have to deal with and find a way to stay positive.
Tracy McGrady: 5/24/1979, 8♣/6♦
Early in the 2008 Season, McGrady underwent surgery for his shoulder and knee. Then after returning for 18 games, he missed the remainder of the year due to a microfracture surgery. During this time he was in a Venus Year with the 9 of Clubs/6 of Spades. The 9 of Clubs will bring disappointment or endings and the 6 of Spades is Health Karma tied to that.
His Microfracture surgery occurred on Feb 24, 2009 and he had just entered his Uranus Period with a 6 of Spades (Negative Health Karma) a couple weeks prior to that. He also had the 6 of Spades in his Neptune period after that. On top of that he was playing a 9 of Clubs Long Range for the year which would see him needing to let go of outdated thinking or plans. It forces us to let go of a lifestyle or mindset.
Anfernee “Penny” Hardaway: 7/18/1971, 10♣/Q ♥
Penny said he felt his injury in the 1996 playoffs vs Detroit. However, he played the rest of the playoffs and 1996 Olympics. At the start of the 96-97 season he had taken on too much physically and had season ending surgery. On Dec 8th, 1997 he was placed on injured list. During this time he was displacing the 7 of Spades in his Queen of Hearts Spread for the year. I am a broken record at this point, but the 7 of Spades has a very difficult health karma and on a mundane level it is here to get us to slow down and adjust the way we do things physically. Penny had to become more of a role player later in his career and he was never the same.
Also during this time, he had a 9 of Spades Pluto Card in his 7 Year cycle which would start to be felt in 1996 and could extend to 1998. The 9 of Spades physically is possibly the most challenging of cards. It also indicates many kinds of losses that include physical health issues, loss of careers and lifestyle changes. The 9 of Spades calls us to let go of certain parts of your lifestyle. It tells you that you have reached a place of completion and must move on.
Brandon Roy: 7/23/1984, 5♣
Brandon Roy had surgery on April 16th, 2010. He had a 9 of Diamonds/King of Hearts Pluto Result, signaling it was time to let go of something cherished, or something of value and this would give him ultimate power over his emotions (King of Hearts). The 9 of Diamonds is endings in Pluto, it also could mean a loss of money.
He played his last game on 10/26/2012. He entered a new 7 Year cycle just a few months before that with a 5 of Spades Long Range. Indicating a change of profession or lifestyle.
Bill Walton: 11/5/1952, 2♦/6♦/A♥
Bill Walton was just an injury ridden player. During his first two years in the NBA he had foot injuries, broke his left wrist twice, dislocated two toes and two fingers, broke a toe and hurt his leg in a jeep accident.
During his first season he was in a Mercury year with an 8 of Spades/6 of Spades. The 8 is a powerful card that would help him overcome obstacles, however it was tied up with the 6 of Spades which is negative health karma. It also had the deadly 9 of Spades/6 of Spades combination underlying the 8 of Spades. So, although he overcame these injuries, it must have been very difficult and I could see why his first year would be full of injuries.
During his second season, he carried with him a 7 of Spades in Saturn. The 7 of Spades seems to strike again here and it riddled him with accidents and injuries for his second year too. The 7 is negative Health habits and the 6 of Spades is Health Karma, not a great combination. He was also displacing the 9 of Spades this year which would signal lifestyle endings, or some type of lifestyle or pattern he needed to complete.
When he was on the Celtics, he won 1986 6th player of the year, and had a Jack of Diamonds (Inherent sales ability) with an 8 of Diamonds (Rewards and recognition for work). Being that these cards were found in Uranus, this was probably a surprise, and it was probably even more surprising that he could stay on the court this long (he played 80 games) and won an NBA championship.
