A simple equation to find your Birth Card

In order to find your Birth card without a spread in front of you, you can use a simple equation to find the solar value for that card. So let’s first talk about the Solar Value for any given card. The solar value is the numerical value assigned to a card. The Solar Value list is below.

For example, the Ace of Clubs has a Solar Value of 14, and the 10 of Diamonds has a Solar Value of 36. A quick way to figure out someone’s birth card is using a formula passed down from the Order of the Magi:

55- ((Birthday Month x 2)+Day of Birth) = Solar Value.

For example, let’s use July 23rd, 1984 → 55 - ((7x2)+23)= 18. The Solar Value corresponding to 18 is the 5 of Clubs.

Finding the Planetary Ruling Card.

Now that you know your birth card, you can use Astrology to find your ruling card, or second birth card. We do this by taking the planet that rules your Zodiac sign, and then find the card in the Grand Solar Spread that corresponds to your ruling planet.

We will use our July 23rd, 1984 Birthday. This person is a 5 of Clubs Leo, ruled by the Sun. Therefore, their Sun card (the 5 of Clubs) is also their secondary card. In effect, they are a double 5 of Clubs, which just gives them a bit more intense 5 of Clubs experience.

The Grand Solar Spread is below. The 5 of Clubs is in the second row from the top. Since your Birth card is always your Sun card, they are a double 5.

Let’s take a second birthday, June 2nd, 1984. Using the equation above, we find the Birth card to be the 2 of Spades. The 2 of Spades is in the bottom row and a Gemini. Since Gemini is ruled by Mercury, we go one spot to the left of the 2 of Spades, the 8 of Hearts. Therefore, the 8 of Hearts is this birthday’s second birth card, or Planetary ruling card.

Whatever your Birth Card is, we move to the left and down to identify the ruling card. Starting with the Sun or Birth card, which is the 1st card in your spread, we move left to the 2nd Card which is Mercury, the 3rd Card is Venus, the 4th Card is Mars, the 5th Card is Jupiter, the 6th Card is Saturn, the 7th Card is Uranus, the 8th Card is Neptune and the 9th Card is Pluto.
